5 Things Dirty Office Computers Tell Your Staff About YOU

New - Books for Dummies Range - Check It Out Here!

Office computers. They’re dirty.  Seriously.  Have you looked at yours closely recently?  You should you know.    Go on, have a close look now.  Look at the edge of the keyboard.  It’s filthy, isn’t it?  Look at the keys, closely.  They’re disgusting.  Can you see the gaps between the keys?  See the crumbs?  Dust? Other stuff that you can’t even work out what it is?  Gross.  What about your monitor?  Is it spotless?  Bet it’s not.  Check out those greasy fingerprints on it.

See, told you computers are dirty – and guess what – the computers of your workers are exactly the same.

You know, people who work in clean environments are generally happier and more productive than those that work in dirty environments – and that environment includes the state of the computers that they work at.

So, if you let your staff work at dirty computers, it’s giving off the wrong message about YOU, their boss...  Check these out

1. You Don't Care

If you allow your workers to use dirty computers, the first thing they will conclude is that you don’t care about the state of their PC – which is a vital tool for them to carry out their work.  What will they conclude from that?  That you don’t care about THEM.

2. You're Tight Fisted

When you’re staff realise that staff over at XYZ Ltd are working at computers that have been recently cleaned, they’ll wonder why YOU haven’t arranged for YOUR computers to be professionally cleaned.  What will be there first conclusion?  That you won’t spend money on something as ‘low priority’ as cleaning the office computers.  They’ll think that you are tight fisted.  When, in actual fact, you’re probably not... Aren’t you?

3. You've Got Your Head in The Sand

Everyone else is having their workstations cleaned.  Their productivity is up.  Their morale is up.  Their sickness is down.  The mood is good.  But here, because YOU are in charge, and haven’t yet sourced a reputable company to clean your office PC’s, you obviously don’t understand the benefits of having PC’s regularly cleaned, the risks of not having them cleaned, and the reason is that you haven’t even looked into it!  And, possibly, Point 2 or Point 1. Or both.

4. You're Not In Control

Your staff may have discussed amongst themselves the benefits of having their PC’s cleaned.  They may have mentioned it to someone further up the corporate ladder than themselves.  But THAT person decided that it wasn’t worthy of bringing to your attention, as it’s such a small, non-important agenda item.  That member of staff has taken the decision from you, leaving your staff wondering what decisions you actually make yourself nowadays...

5. You're So 1997...

Okay, back at the end of the 90’s, the dotcom lifestyle was booming, PC’s were ridiculously expensive, you were just starting out, and nobody had heard of Computer Valeting.  Well, get with it – it’s 2008, the dotcom bubble has burst, PC’s are dirt cheap, you’re successful – and Computer Valeting is a vital service to businesses just like yours.
